James Island PSD Fire Department Donates to Sea Island Habitat for Humanity in Preparation for New Fire Station 1

James Island Public Service District Fire Department crews assisted Sea Island Habitat for Humanity in reclaiming windows, doors and HVAC units from two properties that the JIPSD recently purchased. The residences, along with a vacant lot, will be transformed into a new fire station that is being built to relocate our current Station 1. The new site provides for better fire coverage on the Island for crews, and will provide an updated work area from the current station it will replace, having been built in 1961. The JIPSD contacted Habitat for Humanity to offer the donation of anything in the buildings that they felt would be salvageable, and crews worked with members of Habitat for Humanity to remove those elements.
